Melissa Livingston fell in love with letters and their design as a young girl when she was mesmerized by the opening credits of 101 Dalmatians. She studied Commercial Art in College, won first place, graphic design in the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington THE REAL SHOW: 1985. She worked as a book and calendar designer for publishers Thomasson-Grant in Charlottesville, Virginia. Melissa took a l-o-n-g sabbatical from design work to focus on her most meaningful work… that of mothering.

She and her husband, Jay, have 5 adored children and a darling new daughter-in-law! When the youngest started first grade, Melissa studied bookbinding, mixed media art and letter pressing.

In 2012 with the love and support of her family Melissa opened Livingston Letterpress, home to beautiful hand crafted products.

Our Story

Melissa bought an antique letterpress in 20**. Affectionately called Oliver by the family, the press is a 1911 Old Style Chandler and Price 10×15. Powered by a treadle, each piece is created by hand (and foot) with personal attention to detail.

Melissa and Holly have come together to create custom made letterpressed invitations, cards and prints.
